As the oldest basketball association in Australia, dating to the period prior to the formation of the Victorian Basketball Association in 1931, the Tigers have always aspired to and participated in the highest level of competition available. With strong junior representation and adult domestic programs conducted across Melbourne, the Tigers hold firm to the key objective of providing elite participation at the highest level.

The Tigers history and brand is the most recognisable in Australian Basketball and arguably Australian sport, having been part of the sporting landscape for close to 86 years.

The Melbourne Tigers currently run over 50 teams across junior boys and girls programs in the Basketball Victoria Junior Leagues (VJBL) thus providing players the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the state.

The Melbourne Tigers Senior Program currently fields both a Men’s and Women’s team in the South Eastern Australia Basketball League (SEABL) and Men’s and Women’s Youth Championship teams in the Big V competition. This provides a pathway for elite players to progress from the junior level into the senior ranks at the national level.
