The Melbourne Tigers are pleased to welcome back 3 Tigers Juniors to the 2018 Women’s Senior Program; Ashlea Stainer, Bianca Babic and Courtney Gaze. Ashlea Stainer joined the Tigers at Under 16’s in 2009, and apart from 1 year, has remained with the Tiger’s through to Big V Youth League and Championship level. Ashlea played 4 SEABL games in 2017 and looks forward to extending her impact next season. After being selected in the Big V All-Star 5 in Youth Championship in 2017, Ash will be looking to keep improving her game to become a solid contributor at the SEABL level. Ash is an extremely fast left-handed guard who can add some spark at both ends of the court. Bianca Babic is another Tiger’s junior, starting her rep involvement in under 10’s. Bianca honed her sport in 4 years at Murray State University in the US, before returning to play with the Tiger’s SEABL team in 2017. Bianca’s strengths are her excellent 3 point shot and her very astute ability to read the game, making her a valuable team member. With limited minutes during the Tiger’s inaugural season, Bianca will definitely be keen to make her mark in 2018. Having finished the season strongly and a renewed attitude towards fitness, Bianca will be a great asset for the Tigers in 2018. Courtney Gaze is another Tiger’s junior who began her basketball in under 10’s and progressed through the Tiger ranks to the senior teams.Courtney is enthusiastic about the upcoming season under coach, Mark Alabakov, having launched into a fitness regime to enhance her ability to compete at SEABL level. In 2017, Courtney was a great impact player, coming off the bench to nail shots at crucial times during games, and will be aiming to play an even greater role in 2018. The girls will also be competing for the Tigers in this weekend’s 3×3 SEABL Tournament at the State Basketball Centre.
