The Melbourne Tigers Girls Basketball Club is pleased to announce the coaches for the 2018/2019 VJBL season.
This season we see a number of long serving coaches step back from coaching roles and we thank all these coaches for their commitment to the club and our junior girls players over the past many years.
Andre Leslie, Romi Langova, Bianca Babic, George Kepenis, Joe Tripodi, Adam Klas, Nathan Walsh, Stefan Fielder & Lloyd Klaman. Some of these coaches will still be around the club and haven’t left the Tiger family entirely and the club is grateful for their continued volunteerism.
**Age Group Head Coach Appointments**
Under 12’s Head Coach Warrick Giddey is no stranger to the girls program having coached a number of teams over the past years. Warrick is synonymous with the Melbourne Tigers has just come off a stellar performance in 2018, winning championships with both Under 12.2’s and Under 18.1’s, the club looks forward to Warwick leading our future high performance players, in what is arguably one of the most important roles.
Under 14’s Head Coach Ray Tomlinson, having just recently come off a record breaking season, is one of the greatest coaches in the history of women’s basketball in this country. Ray completing the season at the Under 14 Australian Junior Championships will continue to build the next generation of elite players that he has done so well over past years.
Under 16’s Head Coach Jack Maloney will take the reins for the first time. Jack has spent his entire playing and coaching career with the Melbourne Tigers and has achieved impressive results throughout his coaching roles particularly with our under 16 program. Jack is a regular coach in the Basketball Victoria High Performance programs and deliver continued success with our Under 16’s.
Under 18’s Head Coach Kent Kavanagh brings coaching experience at both the Junior and Senior elite level to the Tigers. A former Senior Women’s Head Coach, having coached across a multitude of age groups, Kent will draw on his extensive leadership background to drive our Under 18 teams to the continued success that has become the benchmark for the Tigers
The Tigers are extremely proud of the outstanding coaches that the club has secured for the upcoming VJBL season and looks forward to the road ahead.
