The Women are still in the hunt for finals action but this weekend shapes up as the most important of the season.
The Tigers kick off the round on Friday night at Nunawading Stadium where they will take on the Spectres. The 2 sides last met at Oakleigh all the way back in Round 1 where the Spectres had a comfortable 22 point win.
The Spectres were one of the hottest teams early on in the season winning their first 5 games before a 3 game losing skid slowed them down. After that they returned to form to win their next 7 but in the last 2 weeks they have dropped their last 2 games.
Melbourne haven’t been as hot as of late neither having lost 3 of their past 5. Including a 22 point loss to Launceston at home last week.
The Tigers will have their work cut out for them and will require a big performance from their Big 3 of Bec, Lou and Monique if they are to take this game from the Spectres.
The Tigers return home for their last home game of the season on Saturday evening when they play Dandenong for a second time in a week.
Dandenong will be after revenge from the mauling the Tigers gave them last weekend on their home court.
The Tigers had big performances from Bec, Monique and Lou against Dandenong and will be hoping that they can repeat the efforts. Dandenong have lost their past 4 games and need a win to keep pace with the other sides in the finals.
A win against Dandenong will put the Tigers 1 game ahead of the Rangers in the race for the 8th playoff spot. If the Tigers knock off Nunawading as well that would almost just about seal their berth in just their second season.
Can the Tigers do it? Can the Tigers take up the challenge before them? Will the reunion of the WNBL 1994 – 1995 Melbourne Tigers teams help inspire the side to victory? The answers will be known by Saturday night.
