Things are getting interesting in the Youth Women’s with only 4 rounds to play. Melbourne this week will travel up the Calder Hwy to take on the Bendigo Braves in a 2nd vs 3rd battle in the Watson Pool.
Melbourne sitting 3rd with 8 wins and 8 losses and Bendigo 2nd with 10 wins and 7 losses. Both teams have only won 2 of their past 5 games with the Tigers now riding a 2 game winning streak.
The Tigers were the big winners last week with a resounding 78 – 41 victory over the Hume City Broncos while the Braves came away with a 58 – 49 win over the Dandenong Rangers.
The Tigers will be looking at keeping Danielle O’Toole at bay after her performance last week against Dandenong where she had 23 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals while the Tigers will look to lean on the growing leadership of Nikki Metcalfe who leads the team in scoring with 12.1ppg and averaging 7.6rpg. Zoe Cransberg made her return last week to the side as well.
This game could go either way but the Tigers will be desperate to make up ground on Bendigo in hope to secure a home final.
