It is with great excitement that the Melbourne Tigers announce the signing of Dexter Kernich-Drew to the SEABL Men’s roster for 2018.
Dexter is another protégé of the Tiger’s Junior Program having played U12 to U18 being coached by the Tiger’s SEABL head coach, Nick Abdicevic, for 3 years and by Andrew Gaze for one year. Such is Dexter’s talent he was recruited to Washington State University where he averaged 20 minutes per game at 6ppg and 2reb pg with stellar performances of 24 points v Colorado in 2014, 27 points and 20 points including 6 3-pointers both v Arizona in 2015.
In July of 2016, Dexter was recruited to NBL powerhouse club, Perth Wildcats, where he is utilised as an impact player that lights up from beyond the arc! Dexter played a key role in the Wildcats, turning around their 2016-17 season which eventually led to another NBL Championship win!
Dexter is committed to the Perth Wildcats for the 2017-18 season but is also keen to get back to Melbourne to renew his relationships with the Melbourne Tigers – he will be a great asset and will add excitement to the team that head coach, Nick, is putting together.
The Tigers SEABL Season kicks off on April 8 at Oakleigh Recreation Centre against the Nunawading Spectres.
